                                           MONITORING AND EVALUATION

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LOGFRAME & RESULTS FRAMEWORK

Results Frameworks are essentially used to summarize Programs at the Strategic level, and satisfy organizationally-prescribed or executive-level felt needs. As such, they are primarily "Conceptual" for Executives to strategize, think, discuss, organize, plan, and brief/orient.

LogFrames/DMFs on the other hand are a working-level method and technique for designing, planning then summarizing the key elements and performance indicators & targets of a project as a basis for utilization by project managers with action-oriented responsibilities for implementation performance monitoring and evaluation. As such they focus -- or should focus -- on specifics, and supplemented with other tools and techniques, such as critical path; and later various statistical and qualitative techniques for evaluation. Nevertheless, some organizations even go to the extent of developing hierarchies of logframes from the highest Strategic levels to the lowest Tactical details -- i.e. Country Vision & Mission, portfolio &/or sector programs, with clusters of supporting projects. You can also transform a project LF into an RF Format.
